Coaches Association Leader:
Dan has been on the Executive Board of the Washington State Football Coaches Association, as the District 1 Rep since 2018. He also has served on the first two WIAA Playoff Seeding Committees in 2018 & 2019. Dan served 6 years as the President of the Lakewood Coaches Association, from 2014-2019.
Head Football Coach – Lakewood HS:
Coach Teeter began his tenure as the Head Coach at Lakewood in 2006. At the time, there were only 34 athletes in the program from 9th-12th grade. The roster grew in numbers every year during his first 8 seasons. It took several years to lay the foundation for the program that is currently in place at LHS. In Coach Teeter’s first four seasons, the Cougars had a 10-30 record. In the decade since then, the team has won nearly 70% of its games, going 72-33, bringing Coach Teeter's 14 year record at LHS to 82-63.
Coach Teeter was recognized as the Cascade Conference Coach of the Year in 2010 and again in 2011. After moving to the Northwest Conference in 2015, Coach Teeter has been named the Co-Coach of the Year in 2017 and the Coach of the Year in 2019. The Everett Herald also recognized Coach Teeter as the All-Area Coach of the Year in 2019. He was also named the Seattle Seahawks High School Coach of the week in 2010, 2011, 2017 & 2019. Dan is humbled by this recognition, but fully understands that any individual recognition that he receives in reality is a team award. The credit is shared with the athletes and the rest of his dedicated staff who make any successes possible.
In 2010, Dan helped coach Team Oregon in the Tanoa Bowl. In 2013, Coach Teeter had the opportunity to serve as the Offensive Coordinator for the West team, in the Earl Barden Classic, East-West All-State Game. The West won 30-6, totaling 424 yards, (184 yards rushing & 239 yards passing). In 2018 Teeter had the high honor of being the Head Coach for the West in the Earl Barden East-West game and what made it even more special was being able to coach two of his players, (QB Austin Lane & TE Jon Cox), as well as bring his O-Line Coach, Jay Carlson to help coach in the game. Unfortunately the East put together a 4th quarter comeback to defeat the West 20-12.
Coach Teeter’s specialty is coaching the Quarterback position. In 19 seasons, of coaching the position, he has helped 9 different athletes earn All-League recognition, totaling ten 1st Team and three 2nd Team honors. He has had 3 QBs named to the AP All-State team and has had 3 QBs offered Division 1 Scholarships: Kyle Kendrick from MVHS (Washington State), Tygue Howland from S-WHS (Portland State) & Justin Lane from LHS (Illinois State). Remarkably, in the ten years from 2010-2019 Lakewood QBs earned EIGHT 1st Team All-Conference and TWO 2nd Team All-Conference honors and two AP All-State selections, giving Lakewood a legitimate claim to be known as one of the most prestigious schools in the state to play quarterback. In 2013, Dan was hired as the QB Coach at the Lawyer Milloy/Golden Tate Camp at Pacific Lutheran University.
Assistant Football Coach:
From 1996 through 2002, Dan was an Assistant Coach under Paul Christianson at Mount Vernon High School. While at MVHS, Dan coached multiple positions including Tight Ends, Receivers, Defensive Ends, Defensive Backs, and spent 5 seasons coaching QBs and Coordinating the Special Teams.
In 2003, Dan made a move to Sedro-Woolley H.S., where he was already teaching. He served for a year under David Williams, where he coached the Secondary and Special Teams. In 2004, Coach Teeter was named Interim Co-Head Football Coach and Offensive Coordinator at SWHS after Coach Williams resigned.
Head Baseball Coach:
Dan accepted the Head Baseball Coach position at Lakewood on an interim basis in 2020. Unfortunately, Covid-19 ended up cancelling the season before a game was played. This marks the only undefeated baseball season in school history...and also the only winless season.
Head Softball Coach:
Prior to becoming the Head Football Coach at LHS, Dan spent 4 seasons as the Head Softball Coach at Sedro-Woolley H.S. His teams won over 80% of their games, finishing with an 85-18-1 record, winning 4 League Championships, 2 District 1 Championships, and placing 3rd and 5th in State. Coach Teeter was also selected to help coach the All-State Softball game in both 2004 and 2005.
College:
Coach Teeter attended Taylor University in Indiana, where he walked on as a QB. In his career, he passed for 2,322 yards and 17 TDs and rushed for 5 TDs. His top performance helped Teeter earn the Conference Offensive Player of the Week. He finished the game completing 17 of 28 passes for 239 yards with 4 TDs in his team’s 44-24 Homecoming victory. In 1995, Teeter was a Graduate Assistant Coach at TU, while doing his student teaching. Due to a couple of injuries, Teeter had the unique opportunity to suit up for the final four games of the season as a “player-coach”.
High School:
Coach Teeter attended Lynden Christian High School, where he lettered for two years in football and baseball. In his senior year, he earned 1st Team All-League in baseball. Dan won the Coaches Award in both football and baseball during his senior season.
Family:
Dan, his wife Rachel and daughters Caitlin and Madeline are thrilled to be a part of the Lakewood community and are members of Smokey Point Community Church, where Dan serves as an elder and Rachel is a part of the women's ministry team.
