Mitch was named the 2013 District 1 Assistant Football Coach of the Year by the Washington State Football Coaches Association.
High School:
Mitch was a 2 year letterman in football, track and wrestling at Lake Washington High School. As a senior football player, he was a team captain, honorable mention all league and won the most inspirational player award. He also went to state in wrestling.
College:
Mitch walked on as a Linebacker at the University of Washington from 1984-1987. He played under Don James, and was coached by Skip Hall and Jim Lambright. The Huskies were 33-13 and 3-1 in bowl games while he was in the program, including an Orange Bowl victory over the #2 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. In 1987, Mitch won the Mark Drennan Memorial Award as an inspirational player for the Huskies.
High School Coaching:
Mitch comes by high school football coaching naturally. His father, Rollie Robbins is 20th all time in coaching wins in Washington State High School football history, with a 206-115-3 record over 34 seasons, winning 64% of his games. In 1988 Mitch served as the Inside LB coach at Interlake HS, under DC, Gene Yerabec and Head Coach Rollie Robbins. From 1989 to 1999, Mitch was the Defensive Coordinator at Seattle Prep, serving under his father, Rollie Robbins. In 2000, Mitch was a freshman coach at Mt. Si HS.
Defensive Coordinator - Lakewood HS:
Coach Robbins has been the Defensive Coordinator at LHS, since 2008. He has assembled an excellent defensive staff and has created a dynamic multiple 3-4 defense, modeled after the University of Oregon, where he and his staff have visited every off-season for the past four years. Since 2011, the defense has given up only 15.8 points per game, with a season low of 13 points allowed per game in 2013. In 2013, Mitch was selected by the Washington State Coaches Association as the District One Assistant Football Coach of the Year.
